Car Payment Calculator
Work out roughly what a vehicle costs per month before you talk to anyone. Adjust the price, deposit, term and rate to see what actually moves the number.
Est. monthly
$451
per month*
This is an estimate for planning only, not a financing offer or an approval. It does not include tax, title, registration, dealer fees or any product you choose to add, and the rate you are actually offered depends on credit history, the lender, the term and the vehicle. For a real figure, get pre-approved — it takes a few minutes and it costs nothing.
What moves the payment
Four inputs decide the monthly figure. Understanding which ones you can actually influence is most of the value of a calculator.
Vehicle price
The obvious one, but worth testing in both directions. Moving the price a couple of thousand either way shows you how much room a different trim or model year actually buys you in monthly terms.
Down payment
Money down reduces what you finance, which lowers both the payment and the total interest. It also protects you against being upside down early in the loan, which matters more on a used vehicle than people expect.
Loan term
A longer term lowers the monthly figure and raises what you pay overall. Stretching a loan on an older vehicle can leave you still paying once it needs real work, so the shortest term you are comfortable with is usually the right answer.
APR
Driven mostly by credit history, term and the age of the vehicle. This is the input people guess at most, and the one worth replacing with a real number — which is what pre-approval gives you.
Budget for more than the payment
The monthly payment is the number everyone shops on, and it is not the number that decides whether a vehicle is affordable. Insurance, fuel, tires and maintenance are all real, and they vary a lot between a compact sedan and a three-quarter-ton truck even when the payment is identical.
On a used vehicle, set something aside for maintenance in the first year specifically. Every vehicle we sell gets inspected before it goes out, but a vehicle with miles on it is closer to its next set of tires or brakes than a new one is, and a budget that accounts for that is a budget that survives contact with reality.
If you want the payment to land in a particular place, the two levers that work are the deposit and the vehicle itself. We would rather help you find something that fits comfortably than stretch a term to make an expensive one look affordable.
Turn the estimate into a real number
Pre-approval gives you an actual rate and a budget you can shop against. It takes a few minutes and there is no obligation.
