What we check on a used Jeep that a generic lot will not
On a Wrangler or Gladiator we look at the things off-road use actually damages: frame and skid plate condition, control arm and track bar wear, steering box play, water intrusion in the footwells from removed tops and doors, and whether a lift was installed with the correct geometry or just spacers. On a Grand Cherokee L or Compass the concerns are different — air suspension, electronics and transmission service history. Same badge, different inspection, and knowing which to run is the point of buying from a Jeep store.
